Ankr is a sharing economy that helps idle data centers to monetize their spare capacity and strives to become the default cloud infrastructure for the Web 3.0 by providing reliable infrastructure to 1,000+ projects and applications, including but not limited to blockchain protocols, crypto exchanges, staking platforms and personal home servers.
Ankr is building a marketplace for container based cloud services. It is a full stack cloud service for container deployment using shared resources.
Our business model includes several components, such as monetizing idle resources from world class data centers, and providing blockchain node hosting solutions
Ankr will provide developers with the ability to deploy 100+ types of blockchain nodes via our node hosting application, which are available in the app store on the Ankr cloud platform.
Introduction AMA
Eric : Thank you all for coming! Welcome @ryan_ankr founder of Ankr Network!
Ryan: thanks for the invite!
Eric : Let’s start first with an introduction. Please tell us your background and how you founded Ankr Network with Chandler Song?
Ryan: heyy. so really it’s been a long journey and wild ride. Eric was actually one of our original supporters
Eric: yes. saw the potential very early and i’m glad you are one of the projects that really built it out and took care of investors too!
Ryan: So the initial idea was that as college statistics student I thought aws was just really expensive
Eric: this was in Berkeley, right?
Ryan: so chandler and I were thinking if there is anything we can do turns out there are so many idle data center resources across the globe in various corporate data centers believe it or not, there are 10 million servers sitting idle!
Ryan: So we started to think of ways to make that happen, to utilize those resources to power a cheaper AWS alternative. 1.5 years later, which is today, I am glad we already onboarded 10+ data centers across the globe monetizing their data center resources on ankr
Eric: Nice.
Ryan: And we currently focus our first initial application on node hosting
Eric: So Ankr Network is like an Airbnb of excess or idle computing resources. What role does the token have in this decentralized system?
Ryan: Exactly, we are essentially airbnb of idle computing resources. So token after the mainnet swap (which is coming soon — both bep and erc to ankr mainnet) has three major uses
1. data centers stake them and become validators, they form a governance body and make important decisions
2. ANKR tokens can be paid for services, and a cut of the payment become staking reward to the entire network, so staking does not create inflation in ankr
3. ANKR blockchain essentially creates this reputation system for those data centers and users can see historical uptime and finished tasks of individual data centers
Eric: Very cool. so its just data centers as a provider? not regular PCs in homes?
Ryan: So yes regular people can also join but its more down the road if I were make an analogy its like airbnb, in the very beginning we only approve the better equiped houses and we will let more and more people join when the reputation system is in place

Q: How will the ANKR business model create value for ANKR token holders?
A: Ofcourse, the idea is simple, say 1 day the trasaction volume of people renting services on the ankr platform is 1 million dollar, the platfrom will take say 5% of that, but instead of keeping that 5%, that 5% will be sent to people who stake tokens, so the more people using the platform, the more staker can get
Q: Recently you announced a strategic cooperation with Biki mining pool service, what service will Ankr provide to them and how will this significantly impact Ankr and thecommunity?
A: Biki mining pool’s POS nodes are going to be run by ankr, aka they use ankr platform to host nodes
Q: Congratulations on your partnership with Lotte Data Communications. Only few Crypto projects have managed to forge a non-crypto relationships with an organisation as mighty as that. What makes this partnership far more significant than the typical crypto partnership?
A: They are actually an onboarded data center that is providing user resources.
Q: Despite the many superior and advantageous features of decentralized platforms, majority of companies still prefer CENTRAL platforms. How does ANKR implement an ADVERTISING and MARKETING strategy to ATTRACT and engage firms from central structures?
A: Well, so there are two things we are doing to make that happen,
- It’s genuinely 50% cheaper, and there are several company in the blockchain space already using ANKRto either deploy their foundation’s nodes or general development
- The distributed nature of ANKR cloud, make node hosting a very very natural first application, because node hosting is better done distributedly, and we work with 40 blockchain projects to make one-click deployment
Q: Can ANKR describe which types of business ANKR supports? How confident you are on your types of bussiness model and Why it is necessary a token for this types of bussiness?
A: So node hosting / general blockchain infrastructure use is our current focus, we have already got quite a good amount of retail and corporate users, later on the next focus will be heavy machine learning related things
Q: Ankr has cooperated with many good partners such as Lition, Hyperledger, Zilliqa … So what are the benefits that partners bring to Ankr?#ankr
A: We work with projects for their node’s one-click deployment so better adoption for them as well as us
Q:What are ANKR’s different sides and competitive advantages over Bisontrails and Blockdeamon?
A: They are both great companies as well, but we are cheaper, more distributed and more retail facing
Q: Can you indicate using some specific metrics how Ankr Cloud compares with AWS, and how you intend to position Ankr Cloud as a better option for running their business needs?
A: So the way we think about it is that ankr is poised for distributed hosting at the begining, 50% cheaper than aws, for example what you would spend on the one click deployment on ankr is roughly 50% of the cost of you only renting things on aws
Q: Thanks to the community of ankr, ankr has been listed at top tiers exchanges, how does ankr team feel about the community and how do you plan to expand it in the future and reward them? #ank
A: The ANKR staking program will be a big part of the reward for the community, and that is driven be real usage
Q: Projects like Vite, Harmony, Matic, Cosmos, TomoChain, Zilliqa and many others, are using ankr to host their nodes on ANKR Cloud ! So, can you explain whats the benefits of ANKR to that projects? #ankr
A: So not only projects themselves but also their communities, so for projects, its jus cheaper, more resilient and distributed — avoiding single point failure on infrastructure level. For their community — the ease of deploying nodes and cheaper cost
